BackTrack Linux was a Debian-based penetration testing distribution designed for digital forensics and security auditing. It served as the predecessor to Kali Linux, merging the Auditor Security Collection and Whax projects to provide a comprehensive suite of open-source security tools. The platform was officially discontinued in 2013 in favor of its successor.
