EIP-4844

EIP-4844, also known as Proto-Danksharding, is a blockchain protocol upgrade for Ethereum that introduces a new transaction type capable of accepting large ‘blobs’ of data. This mechanism significantly reduces transaction fees for Layer 2 rollups by storing temporary data on the beacon node rather than permanently in the execution layer. The update serves as a forward-compatible step toward full data sharding while maintaining network decentralization and manageable disk usage.
