Kullancsfigyelő is a citizen science research platform operated by the Institute of Evolutionary Biology at the Hungarian Research Centre for Ecology. The initiative engages the public in mapping the spread of two dangerous tick species, Hyalomma marginatum and Hyalomma rufipes, which are expanding their range into Central Europe due to climate change. By collecting field reports and specimens, the project supports early detection efforts to mitigate the risk of vector-borne diseases such as Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever.
