n3n is a lightweight, user-space peer-to-peer VPN software that creates virtual Ethernet networks (communities) across distributed edge nodes. It utilizes supernodes to facilitate node discovery and NAT piercing, establishing direct UDP connections between peers while providing packet relaying when direct connectivity is not possible. Originally derived from the n2n project, it offers protocol compatibility and open-source licensing under GPL.
