SPIFFE (Secure Production Identity Framework for Everyone) is a Cloud Native Computing Foundation graduate project that provides a uniform identity control plane for distributed systems. It enables the issuance of strongly attested, cryptographic identities to workloads across heterogeneous infrastructure, including Kubernetes, virtual machines, and cloud environments. The framework facilitates zero-trust security by automating secure service-to-service communication and eliminating the need for passwords or API keys.
